agree that Stop Messin' About is not as good as Round the Horne etc - indeed it's rather surprising to me that the Beeb are repeating it when there's a Kenneth Horne-size vacuum in the middle of this failed experiment to see whether the spirit of RTH could survive the death of Horne. Barry Took once wrote that even a Martian newly arrived on Earth would have known that RTH was Kenneth Horne's show, and without that still centre the grotesques just don't work. Round the Horne was a definite advance on Beyond Our Ken, as the sixties offered it more targets; Stop Messin' About is a rather sad coda.
