The Goon Show

The way I see it ... one Goon trailer takes up time which might otherwise have been occupied with a Comedy Club trail.

Or "trial", as I amusingly call it.

Beat.

I do have a day job - it's just not terribly demanding at present.

Yes, Ivor, and it also has the odd effect of making Married sound not terribly funny or inviting even when you've just been listening to half an hour of evidence to the contrary.

But oh, those Comedy Club trails or "trials," as I amusingly - oh, sorry, done that bit already ...

I can understand the wish to attract listeners but the trailers in general seem to presuppose that nobody ever listens to BBC 7 on a regular basis. Certainly listings are not available in every paper so you can sort of understand these constant reminders but yes, they are unimaginative and changed so infrequently as to constitute a health risk.

They'd be more suited to entice potential listeners from other stations like two or four - don't know whether there is indeed any cross-station promotion or whatever the term is.

And the trails are especially annoying in the context of a largely speech-based station - they are noisier, and in a different mode from what we have just heard. In the context of Radio Two, say, it would be less of a jolt.
