Vicky Pepperdine

She was the director of a fringe comedy troupe in an excellent three part series called Coming Soon on Channel 4 by Annie Griffin, who did The Book Group and the film Festival. The array of actors - Ben Miller, David Walliams (pre-Little Britain as an Arts Council minion), Elaine C. Smith (as "Paisley Johnston") - surely makes it merit a repeat or a DVD issue. Episodes were about an hour and it was more effective than the sitcom-type constraints which the half hour slot imposed on The Book Group. Plus it's the only comedy drama I know to make extensive use of the architectural delight that is Motherwell Civic Centre. It's sort of a UK Waiting for Guffman, if you know that film, but more complex. And the ending is very satisfying. I don't know what else she has been doing, but that alone is more than enough.
